Has it really been 20 days...

since I last blogged? Well, there have been some big events in the past couple of weeks.

First there was a wedding shower;

 a night out with the bride;

a fabulous meal out with said bride (me and my sister);

 (yes that would be my Multnomah shawl)

 and a total of 34 inches of snow in the past 2 weeks;

I was able to take that photo this afternoon. I'm glad we do not have any close neighbors that would have seen me sticking my head and camera out the window!

Phew!

Unfortunately, even with all that snow, I still had to make it into work, so I just started back on the shrug today. I need to work quickly as the wedding is in 3 weeks!

April color

It is all around us. It seems that the week straight of rain (or so it seemed!) combined with 3 days over 75 degrees has made for bright color and severe pollen levels. So, between my extra long days at work and feeling under the weather (allergies) the blog has been quiet.

Here are my knitting updates:

I did get through Chart A on my Ishbel. (YAY!) I am now on Row 2 of Chart B. I'm only working on it during the weekends, hence why it is going so slow.

I'm still working on my Chevron Scarf. I am almost done with ball #3, so just one more to go!

I've also been adding to my Ravelry que, so I'm up to 55 patterns I would like to make! YIKES! I best get better and keep those knitting needles flying!

A post for the birds

Of all the birds photos I've taking during this storm, this is my favorite showing our cardinal couple. We've named them Booth & Bones! Yes - we really enjoy that show!

I was SO careful walking out the door this morning as to not step on any bird prints and asked my DH to take a photo as I get home after dark. Thank you DH! You can see the tip of a bush on the right hand side the birds have spent many hours in that bush.

I know I need to take some more bunny photos around the house. Hopefully I'll get to that shortly!

Here in New England we have been dealing with snow, ice, snow, ice then rain and I believe it then went back to ice - all just this week. Anyway, I snapped this photo on my way out the door one morning.
This was the scene out the back door:I think we are ready for Spring! Even the bunnies around the house are hiding from this weather:

Ice and more ice

You would think that we got our share of ice last month. This is my little tree.

I transplanted this little seedling last year. It was originally in our back acreage and looked worse than the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. I'm glad to see that it is holding up well to the recent ice we have received. (also note that I didn't crop the bottom of the photo, it was under the snow)

I've decided to get back to knit my fingerless mitts. I've been getting home too late to snap a photo of where I am, so I'll share that with you this weekend. It was quite an adjustment the other night going from the size 5 needles I had been using down to the 2's for the mitts. I made the comment to DH last night that it felt that I was knitting with toothpicks!

This is another bunny from the tree, and we each got one attached to a present one year from my Aunt. Too cute!

Electricity anyone?

Well, what a few days we have had here. We lost our power on Thursday night...along with power we lost water, heat, cable etc.

We spent an extremely cold Friday being 'tough' and sticking it out. Friday night the temperature inside the house dropped to 40 degrees. It was that type of bone chilling temp that you just can't stop shivering from....we lasted until Saturday morning when we reached out to dear friends of ours.

You see, these dear friends, moved from one house to another during this wonderful storm we had. However, fortunately for us, the house they moved from was still vacant, had heat and water.

So, squatters we became. We packed up two folding chairs, air bed, pillows, Ms. "B" and off we went.

Today is now Tuesday, we JUST got back our power, heat, water and cable a mere 6 hours ago. As thankful as we are to our dear friends, we are extremely glad to be back home.

With everything going on around this household this past few months I do hope that 2009 brings us more happiness and security for us.

As for your bunny a blog...the camera needs a little longer to warm up. Next time, I promise! How about the new winter banner up top?
