Progress and moving boxes?

I can't believe my last post was 3 weeks ago. I'd say time flies when you are having fun, but I don't call the last 3 weeks fun.

We were going to start an addition to our house this month, having completed all the requirements, then decided not to. Instead we made a bigger decision to sell our home and move.

For those of you that really know me, it was a rough (aka emotional) few days as we finalized this decision. However, now I'm in it whole hog!

In light of all this change I've turned to knitting, or shall I say purchasing with a side of knitting?

These are Poste Yarns from Simply Sock Yarn Company. I want to use the top two to learn another new technique this year, with turquoise toes, heels and cuffs. The middle is black - even though it shows navy. The bottom is navy and orange, my two favorite colors!

The Heartbreak Hotel socks are coming along. It takes a while on a 1.5 mm needle and 72 stitches around...oh yeah and packing up a house we've been in for nearly 20 years!

Stitches East 2014

This household looks forward to a long weekend in Hartford every year. This year was no different.

A 4 day weekend arrived just at the right time from a lot of craziness! We enjoy walking around Hartford, eating at some really good restaurants, taking photos, and enjoying the architecture of the older buildings...and of course Stitches East!!

I usually take one class, this year was no different. I chose Toe Up Socks by Sarah Peasley. She was great and has such a funny personality! It also helped that nearly everyone in the class had knit socks before (cuff down) so the pace was really good. She would give us the next step, go around to make sure we all had it, then go back to those that weren't as familiar with sock construction.

We even make it to the photo section on Knitter's Universe on FB.

I managed to finish mine in no time. It helps that we were to bring worsted weight yarn and I used US 7 needles. It is a great way to be able to use the full hank on your socks, without the worry if you are going to run out. It also doesn't require all those pick up stitches around the gusset.

In having completed, I think 3 or 4 pairs of socks from cuff down, this is definitely going to be my sock method going forward.

By the time we got home, I was itching to start real socks, on a US 2. Much slower construction!

The yarn is Universal Yarn's Bamboo Pop which is a bamboo cotton blend. My needles are Hiya Hiya Sharp, since my Knit Picks interchangeable sets are not available in this size.

As for my stash enhancements. How about a teaser of waiting until tomorrow? I want to get back to my socks!

DH was out of the house for the bulk of today. It was so nice and quite I was able to finished my latest James Patterson book, Judge & Jury. Once that was finished I was able to knit about 4 more inches, between the two socks. I’m so excited that I’m getting so far along.

Although I still have the heel which, having only completed one class sock prior, is still a huge challenge to finish before I’ll breathe a sigh of relief!! I love how the colors of the material are coming out and this Panda Cotton is just a delight to work with.

I also scored myself some Jimmy Buffett tickets this morning. I was cleaning out my inbox and came across an email from a ticket house and one thing led to another…I’m thrilled that I landed tickets.

I also went to the PO and picked up the mail. I knew I’d have my Simply Socks order waiting for me. Allison hasn’t disappointed me yet on fast shipping. I was emailing her the other day about other non-wool sock yarns and she mentioned the Cascade Fixation. Of course, I had to buy some right away and a little bigger DPN to work the knitting with.

So now I really have to finish the socks I’m working on to start the new ones, I have a feeling it is a battle that is going to be a constant one!
